Under the direction of the ED/VP of Maintenance and Infrastructure and the guidance of the Transit Customer Amenities Manager, the Stops and Zones Assistant is a full-time employee who is responsible for installing and maintaining Long Beach Transit (LBT) bus stops, benches, shelters and the Transit & Visitor Information Center located within the Transit Gallery.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, services, cleans and maintains bus stops, benches, shelters and adjoining sidewalks within the service area
  • Cleans the Transit & Visitor Information Center
  • Cleans the Transit Gallery restrooms
  • Maintains all necessary supplies for the Transit Gallery restroom
  • Cleans and maintains Transit Gallery shelters, including graphics and display cases
  • Maintains records and daily logs describing work performed at above-mentioned locations
  • Maintains and stocks necessary supplies
  • Cleans and maintains assigned equipment
  • Cleans and fuels company-issued vehicle
  • Complies with all safety regulations as stated in the company safety program, and reports safety-related accidents, incidents, and unsafe work conditions, as well as attends safety-training programs as required
  • Other duties as required

ATTRIBUTES AND SKILL SETS:

  • Valid CA Class C license required with excellent driving record
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English well enough to sufficiently perform all essential functions and duties of the Stops and Zones Assistant

ABILITIES AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to recognize existing or potential mechanical defects, problems, and be ready to fix the problem
  • Must be able to lift 80 pounds and climb a 20-foot extension ladder
  • Bend with both knees and back, climb, squat and/or kneel when performing maintenance
  • Utilize handheld tablet, radio, cell phone, and any company-issued devices in carrying out daily responsibilities

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school graduation or its equivalent. Knowledge of the operation of maintenance equipment and power tools; basic industrial arts; ability to read and write English; compute simple mathematics; work alone with little supervision; maintain good relationships with fellow employees and the general public.

 

Salary Range:$53,020.31-$68,413.30 per year (Depending on Experience)

 

Compensation packages are determined based on a variety of factors specific to each candidate,including geographic location, skillset, the mix of relevant education,certifications,experience level, and performance. At Long Beach Transit, compensation decisions are made considering the unique requirements and circumstances of each position.
