The Talent Acquisitions Specialist will research, recruit, screen, interview, and refer job candidates for positions at all levels to hiring authorities for potential job placement within LBT. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for all facets of the recruitment process from sourcing through onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Actively source and recruit candidates using databases and recruiting portals
  • Screen applicants by using structured, position-specific questions created for the interview and customized in conjunction with management to obtain all requirements of the position
  • Identifies, develops, and maintains a network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates including the use of job boards, news publications, the Employment Development Department, schools, alumni groups, public organizations, and transit websites
  • Coordinates and participates in job fairs at various local colleges, sets up displays, responds to candidate questions; prepares materials for presentations as necessary, regarding the benefits of LBT as an employer
  • Develops and updates job descriptions and job specifications to perform job and task analysis
  • Develops and coordinates internal job posting program, identification of posting locations and posting frequency; composes job postings for positions at all levels within the organization
  • Extend job offers and negotiate terms with candidates.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and innovative recruiting techniques.
  • Ensures appropriate, required employment documents are prepared, signed, properly executed, and maintained for future reference and legal compliance, e.g., background check information, medical certification, Department of Motor Vehicle records, I-9 documentation, etc.
  • Maintains recruitment database and recruitment data utilizing current applicant tracking system software or hard-copy records for high-volume recruitments not yet transitioned to electronic format
  • Initiates, develops and proposes process and procedure changes applicable to recruiting to enhance the effectiveness of operations, such as personnel requisition, applicant workflow, and onboarding
  • Performs other duties within the scope and complexity of the position as may be assigned
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with candidates and hiring managers. This includes effectively managing candidate and stakeholder expectations throughout the recruitment process.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related field.
  • Three to four years of experience specifically in sourcing and recruiting applicants (required).
  • Proven experience as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, Recruiter, or similar role (required).
  • Hands-on experience with various selection processes, including virtual and phone interviews (preferred).
  • Qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year- for- year basis.

Skill Set:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in analyzing recruitment metrics and trends to improve recruitment strategies and outcomes. This includes using data to identify areas for improvement and measure the success of recruitment efforts.
  • Ability to manage multiple requisitions and candidates simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs. Strong problem-solving skills to address recruitment challenges and find solutions.
  • Computer applications including HRIS, Word and Microsoft Excel, database applications, and iCIMS or other applicant tracking software
  • Read and interpret documents such as employee handbooks, union contracts, safety rules, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of applicants or employees
  • Be extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Travel between company facilities and other locations

Salary Range: $77,135- $106,495 (Depending on Qualifications)

 

Compensation packages are determined based on a variety of factors specific to each candidate, including geographic location, skillset, the mix of relevant education, certifications, experience level, and performance. At Long Beach Transit, compensation decisions are made considering the unique requirements and circumstances of each position.
