The Training Supervisor is responsible for effectively and efficiently developing, delivering, coordinating and evaluating Long Beach Transit (LBT) training programs. The Primary focus is the maintenance training programs for new Bus Operators providing state mandated refresher training (SMART), verified transit training course classes, and return-to-work/accident retraining programs, utility workers, custodians, mechanics, on-going technical training, and vendor/new equipment workshops. In addition, the Training Supervisor develops and delivers training programs for staff.

ATTRIBUTES AND SKILL SETS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of approximately four years progressively responsible experience in transit or training. Two years of lead experience preferred. Prior bus operator experience is desirable.
Must have passenger transit maintenance experience with an emphasis on alternative fuel technology and heavy equipment repair, experience as a journeyman diesel mechanic with an operative knowledge of bus technology and classroom experience. The ability to educate/coach/discipline others is also required. Effective oral/written communication is mandatory. Ability to motivate trainees, strong interpersonal skills.
Experience in public transportation buses, behind-the-wheel instruction and classroom training and supervision; demonstrated safe driving skills and good driving record/California Class B Passenger/Air Brakes license, and ability to obtain certifications from the Transportation Safety Institute and Department of Motor Vehicles for California driver license sign-off.
Ability to motivate trainees; strong interpersonal skills. Must have a good driving record and the ability to obtain a CA Class B-P/Airbrakes license and ability to obtain a Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) and DMV certification for CDL sign-off. Proficient in computer skills, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and audio-visual equipment.
This position is considered safety sensitive and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including but not limited to pre-employment testing, post-accident testing and random testing under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations, and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, 49 CFR Part 40 and Part 655.

Hiring Range: (Based on Experience): $67,767.91 to $72,104.04 Annual (DOQ), with excellent fringe benefits.
