  • Overview

    The Transit Analyst is responsible for providing a comprehensive review of the Transit Service Delivery and Planning (TSDP) department, identifying the costs of all services and programs offered, evaluating on the basis of established strategic priorities and budget objectives within the department and, ultimately guiding the development of the annual operating and capital budget to ensure fiscal sustainability and financial accountability. This includes analyzing and reporting on costs and productivity for LBT’s fixed-route, water taxi and special services; Requests for Proposals (RFPs), operating and capital grants, as well as departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

    Responsibilities

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    • Summarizes, analyzes and interprets field data received from TSD including operator absenteeism, scheduled and unscheduled overtime for operators and staff personnel, accidents/incidents and other transit-related issues
    • Performs varied research, data analysis, budgetary analysis, program analysis and computer research functions to support TSD programs and to monitor the performance of transit services
    • Compiles and analyzes TSD quarterly performance reports, productivity improvement programs and prepares summary quarterly performance reports
    • Tabulates and monitors performance by completing various spreadsheets and analyses, as well as assists in developing recommendations for improvement
    • Identifies and documents transportation problems and needs with recommendations and assessments of transit services and prepares findings
    • Performs in-depth budget analyses and collaborates with other department staff to research expenditure transactions and trends
    • Proactively monitors, evaluates and analyzes planned versus actual variances
    • Facilitates the preparation and development of the department budget process
    • Provides technical and advisory services to assist the department in achieving budget objectives
    • Analyzes historical trends and forecasts future needs to lead department staff in developing impactful budgets
    • Participates in department decision making though collaboration with the agency’s KPI Team
    • Objectively determines how to match available resources with agency strategic priorities
    • Presents and communicates departmental financial reports and findings to key management personnel
    • Reviews budgetary and operational adjustments throughout the year and assesses fiscal and service impacts
    • Provides strategic analysis and forecasting of key revenue and expense line items to develop short-term and long-range strategic plans
    • Attends and participates in professional group meetings, as well as stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of planning and development
    • Other duties/projects as assigned

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    A Bachelor’s degree in transportation, planning, public administration, computer science, finance, engineering, urban planning, business recreation administration, business administration or related field is required. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience is required.

     

    Salary Structure:

     

    WAGE BAND G - Hiring range: $64,205-$71,339 yearly (DOQ), with excellent fringe benefits. Submit resume
