  • Overview

    The Risk Management Representative, Workers’ Compensation, coordinates the Long Beach Transit (LBT) Workers’ Compensation Program. This position interfaces with all LBT departments and employees, and LBT’s Third Party Administrator (TPA). The Risk Management Representative, Workers’ Compensation, ensures compliance with federal and state guidelines, and interfaces with and provides required reporting to various government agencies as required.


    • Reviews claim forms, initiates contact with claimant, and explains Workers’ Compensation process
    • Enters claim information into TPA’s on-line reporting system in a timely manner
    • Maintains contact with injured employees who are away from the workplace regarding claim status
    • Reviews and analyzes financial and statistical data provided by the TPA. Provides recommendations to the Risk Manager. Notes any extraordinary circumstances, and verifies data prior to forwarding information to the Finance and Budget Department
    • Participates in meetings with management and TPA representatives regarding best course of action in management of LBT’s Workers’ Compensation Program
    • Audits financial and statistical information provided by TPA to ensure accuracy of information and adherence to contract requirements. Submits monthly statistical and financial program information to the Finance and Budget Department
    • Coordinates LBT’s Return-to-Work (RTW) program
    • Provides annual Workers’ Compensation report to the State of California, including Section 111 Medicare reporting    
    • Analyzes claims data to identify needed loss control interventions and works with Safety Officers and department personnel on the development of appropriate loss prevention programs as needed
    • Provides reporting and analyses on key metrics to senior management in written form using graphics, charts, and power point presentations
    • Provides training and education to departments on workers’ compensation processes and procedures
    • Supports and assists Risk Manager in the development of requests for proposals for TPA services and the selection of ancillary service providers
    • Coordinates and updates processes and procedures for annual submission to LBT auditing firm  
    • Complies with all safety regulations as stated in the company safety program, and reports safety related accidents, incidents, and unsafe work conditions. Attends safety-training programs as required
    • Records and maintains OSHA log in compliance with OSHA regulations
    • Certifies and posts annual OSHA summary
    • Participates in meetings, presentations, and special projects, as necessary
    • Reviews, follow-ups and files all claims correspondence
    • Other duties may be assigned





    Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience handling Workers' Compensation claims. A Bachelors' Degree or equivalent in Insurance, Risk Management, Human Resources or a related field preferred.


    Workers’ Compensation certification preferred such as WCCP, WCCA, or other related certifications.  Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Strong organizational skills; detail oriented. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.


    Salary Structure:

    WAGE BAND F - Hiring range: $4,911 to $5,499 per month (DOQ), with excellent fringe benefits. Submit resume.
