  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Manager, Government Relations, the Intern will work with the Capital and Grants Planner in the development of grant applications, post award administration of grant programs, tracking of grant expenditures as well as assisting with various capital planning activities. The intern position will also assist in coordinating with other finance staff in the administration of grant activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in developing grant applications including securing letters of support, maps and other supporting documentation
    • Assists in compiling and updating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) from the various groups in Finance and creating an electronic filing system
    • Assists with the process of updating quarterly capital binders
    • Attends and assists with the quarterly meetings
    • Assist with compiling quarterly report data and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) measures
    • Assist with organizing project files including creating new files and boxing up and labeling old files
    • Assists in monthly close including journal entries and closing tasks
    • Researches capital issues as needed
    • Assists with special projects
    • Other duties may be assigned

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    Successful candidate will be a full-time student maintaining a 2.7 or above GPA for undergraduates and a 3.0 or above for graduate students and currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Program majoring in Statistics, Accounting, Economics or a related field. Transcripts and class schedules will be requested.                                     

    Strong technical aptitude as shown by strong grades and/or hands-on experience. Ability to work in a highly collaborative team setting. Candidate must demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills and be a self-starter who is able to work with limited supervision and has a strong desire to learn. Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects is a plus. Good communication skills; proficient in MS Office applications Excel, Word, Access. Accounting and excellent organizational skills.
