College Intern - Marketing and Community Relations



Long Beach Transit’s Student Intern Program offers career-minded students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while being compensated. Under the direction of the Deputy CEO and the guidance of the Marketing and Customer Service Manager, the LBT Marketing and Community Relations Intern (Intern) will gain real-world work experience on meaningful projects, and will have the opportunity to use problem-solving, communication and decision-making skills. The Intern will work with a professional(s) as a Mentor for assistance to enhance a career path.


  • Assists in strategic development and implementation of internal and external marketing campaigns
  • Assists in liaison efforts with community stakeholders
  • Assists in community relations efforts including performance tracking and event activation
  • Attends and actively participates in community events and meetings on behalf of Long Beach Transit
  • Assists in social media strategy, tracking and posting
  • Reports on social media, new media and customer-facing technology trends
  • Tracks and reports on community and customer demographic information
  • Works nights and weekends at community events throughout the City of Long Beach
  • Other duties may be required



Full time student maintaining a 2.7 or above GPA for undergraduates and a 3.0 or above for graduate students and currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Program majoring in Marketing, Communications or related field. The candidate must be detail-oriented; possess strong communication and presentation skills; able to work independently or with diverse groups; able to organize tasks, manage time and prioritize projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required; familiarity with Photoshop and InDesign desirable.
